Blattwerk Reed Quintet
Blattwerk has in recent years become one of the leading reed quintets in Europe and fascinates with its gripping playing.
- 2016
- Switzerland
Blattwerk regularly performs at festivals and chamber music series with presenting unusually tasteful programmes, for example at Davos Festival, Musikfestival Bern, Murten Classics and Label Suisse Lausanne.
The quintet creates their own arrangements of works by eg. Mélanie Bonis, Carlo Gesualdo, John Dowland, Paul Wranitzky, Joachim Raff, Nikolai Rimsky-Korskakov, Isaac Albéniz and Paul Hindemith sharpen the extraordinary profile of the ensemble and enrich the reed quintet repertoire.
It is a priority for the musicians to go in new directions with this unique instrumentation and work together with other instrumental artists as well as commissioning new works.
The members of Blattwerk are also members of Ensemble Proton, Basel Sinfonietta and the Berner Symphonieorchester and regularly work as guests with the Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, Philharmonia Zürich and Ensemble Musikfabrik.
Their debut album "figurations" was released in 2022 with works by Bartók, Debussy, Feldmann and Ravel on the Swiss label Schweizer Fonogramm. It was nominated for the Grand Prize — and was placed on the Best List — of the German Record Critics and discussed internationally.
