Oreka Reed Quintet

Oreka Reed Quintet is an ensemble born in 2019 in Donostia-San Sebastián. It is made up of five musicians from different parts of the Iberian Peninsula (Galicia, Euskadi, Catalonia and Castilla y León). 

They have created a group with its own character and personality through taking advantage of the diversity of colors and sounds offered by a group as unusual as is the reed quintet. In addition, Oreka Reed Quintet seeks to innovate in the field of classical music by working with different national and international composers, and providing a creative vision and quality in each of the concert programmes it presents. The ensemble focuses on all musical, artistic, visual and sound aspects, focusing on new music, creating unique projects and collaborating with personalities from the global artistic scene.

Oreka (‘balance’ in Basque) Reed Quintet (quintet of reeds) is the name we chose for the formation, which defines the main items of the quintet. This balance is the main value we want to transmit: emotional, physical and mental balance. In short: a balance that we should all seek in every aspect of life. 

The quintet performs all over the world and has participated in some of the main classical music festivals and cycles, (such as the well-known San Sebastian Musical Fortnight cycle in 2020), with the purpose of getting their music to each of the spectators attending their concerts. Through a first-person experience, the audience can identify with the music and get emerged in the emotions of their musical adventures.
